The Tulips against cancer action will germinate in spring 2025.

The planting operation of some 170,000 tulip bulbs took place on Wednesday November 13, 2023 in a one-hectare agricultural plot in Boissy-L'Aillerie (Val-d'Oise).

Despite a drop in flower production, due to bad weather in Holland, the action will be able to take place as it has every year for thirty years.

The Lions Club of joins forces with the 58 planting clubs in , which produce around 4.2 million tulip bulbs

Led by farmer Jean-Christophe Guillet, the planting morning took place on a new plot lent by Paul Dubray, farmer in Boissy-L'Aillerie.

Different varieties are planted to allow germination over a month, corresponding to the solidarity operation.

The Vie Libre association, which fights against addictions, is mobilizing for the harvest.

Sale on the spot

Picking will take place in April and a sale will be held on site.

“Half of the sales are done directly,” underlines the club manager.

The partner clubs of Marines, Auvers, L'Isle-Adam, Beauchamp-, -Ville Nouvelle and even , will assist the Pontoise club with sales in other sites and thus allow a revenue, including the profit will be donated to the fight against cancer.

Traders are also asked to support the operation.

“We offer a weekly bouquet of 48 tulips for a fixed price,” explains Philippe Irrmann.
