This craftsman from Saint-Michel-de-Double worked on the Notre-Dame-de-Paris rehabilitation project. He was even at the top, more than 100m away to reinstall the lightning rods. An impressive project that he describes on France Bleu Périgord.
This Périgord says it himself, he certainly has the most beautiful office. Anthony Dupuy is the manager of the company Pro Tech Lightningbased in Saint-Michel-de-Double. Specializing in lightning rods, he had already brought the system on Notre-Dame-de-Paris up to standard in 2012 before the fire. He was therefore logically called back for the rehabilitation of the cathedral and to put the lightning rods back in place.
We must therefore imagine it, more than 100m high, on the scaffolding around the spire of Notre-Dame-de-Paris. In the cold and in the wind, but above all impressed by “the magnificent view. I would say it is the best view in Paris.”
His work is important on the roofs of the cathedral. “The primary purpose of the lightning rod is to prevent damage from lightning, primarily fire. Afterwards there are also explosions and destruction, but The first damage to avoid is fire and of course everyone is very sensitive to it, me even more so.”
He is proud to see the monument reopen
“But it's exceptional to be there. The view is exceptional but so is the work. It's a monument to which I am very attached. It gives me all the pleasure. Especially since I was able to explore the frames, exteriors and interiors, she is truly sublime. She was very beautiful before and she is sublime now.”
