A big dragnet across the four corners of France. On Friday, November 22, the Oise national police carried out a judicial operation in Creil jointly with the research and intervention brigades of Lille, Montpellier and Perpignan. They got their hands on 520 kg of cannabis in different vehicles, and arrested three individuals, aged 17 to 24, all from Oise and well known to the police.
“Presented to the investigating judge on November 28, 2024, the three suspects were indicted,” indicates Loïc Abrial, the public prosecutor of Senlis in a press release published this Tuesday.
“The drug, whose resale value is estimated at 4.2 million euros, was intended for the French market,” continues the prosecutor. The merchandise was seized; the two major suspects placed in pre-trial detention during investigations. The minor who will soon be 18 years old was released and placed under judicial supervision. The Senlis public prosecutor's office, which had requisitioned his placement in detention, appealed this decision.
This large-scale operation results from an investigation launched in 2023 by the specialized organized crime division of the interdepartmental service of the Oise judicial police (SIPJ). Several individuals suspected of being involved in an international network supplying the Creillois Basin with narcotics had already been arrested at the time. The in-depth investigations had “made it possible to identify other individuals suspected of occupying a place within this structured criminal network”, specifies the press release.
While “the investigation continues following a letter rogatory issued to the SIPJ of Oise by the investigating judge of Senlis”, in particular to find other suspects identified in this case, “the persons indicted remain presumed innocent,” concludes the prosecution.
