The accident took place on the night of December 2 to 3, 2024, on one of the largest construction sites underway in the Gard. It was a little after one in the morning when emergency services were called to intervene on the construction site of the tunnel du cadereauunder Nîmes. A worker had just seriously injured his arm.
As a reminder, the work on the Uzès Cadereau must allow water to cross the city of Nîmes in case of flooding.
A dangerous intervention
As soon as the accident was reported, a important device consisting of a command vehicle, an ambulance, a team of first aiders in dangerous environments and a SAMU medical team was engaged on the scene.
A 40 year old man
Upon arriving on site, emergency services took charge of a 40-year-old man, “discovered at the height of the tunnel boring machine approximately 500 meters from initial access ».
After an intervention of 3 hoursfirefighters were able to extract the victim and transport him to the Nîmes University Hospital Center. The various exercises carried out on the site for several months made it possible to evacuate the forty-year-old in the best possible conditions.
