New disruption in Parisian public transport. Users of line 6 will have to adapt due to new modernization work. The famous green metro line is partially closed this Sunday, December 8, 2024. We tell you everything.
While the construction site of Grand Paris Express continues in Île-de-France, notably with the entry into service of line 15 South in the summer of 2026, several Paris metro lines are facing disruptions due to modernization work. This is particularly the case of line 6. After a recent partial interruption of traffic on November 24, traffic is disrupted again this weekend on this famous Parisian metro line, which connects Charles de Gaulle – Étoile to Nation via Trocadéro, Montparnasse and Place d' Italy.
Concretely, the ligne 6 East closed ce Sunday December 8, 2024all day, between Charles de Gaulle – Étoile and Trocadéro stations. On this section, the Boissière, Kléber and Charles de Gaulle – Étoile stations are closed to travelers and the Trocadéro station becomes the temporary terminus.
The Autonomous Paris transport authority explains that this partial interruption of traffic on the ligne 6 should allow the deployment of new generation MP89 trains. “The adaptation of the infrastructure to this new rolling stock and the modernization of the installations will be completed by 2026 with, on the one hand, the modification of the railway signaling installations in the Nation and Charles de Gaulle Étoile zones and, on the other hand, 'on the other hand, online tests of the new train control system“.
To best help travelers on their journey, the RATP announces the establishment of bus de substitution. These will serve the section concerned, namely that located between Charles de Gaulle – Étoile and Trocadéro.
In detail, the stops and departures of these replacement buses will be located at Charles de Gaulle – Star (departure from 2 avenue Kléber), Kléber, Boissiere et Trocadero (departure from 93 avenue Kléber).
Otherwise, users also have the possibility of borrowing alternative routeslike RER line A as well as metro lines 1, 2, 8 and 9, without forgetting the buses (22, 30, 71…).
