This live is now over.

A doom and gloom on the part of the National Rally? “There will be no vote on the motion of censure of the RN, since the motion of censure that [LFI a] filed will be adopted and the government will fall, therefore the motion of censure of the RN will not be examined”assures Manuel Bompard on BFMTV, Monday December 2.

Indeed, the left-wing parties members of the New Popular Front tabled their motion of censure around 4:30 p.m., almost an hour before that of the RN. It is therefore that of the NFP which will be debated first in the Assembly, and Marine Le Pen confirmed that the RN would also vote in favor of that of the left, which would cause the fall of the Barnier government even before the examination of the text of the far-right practice. Follow our live stream.

The RN and the NFP each tabled a motion of censure against the Barnier government. A little earlier, Michel Barnier had decided to use article 49.3 of the Constitution to have the Social Security financing bill (PLFSS) adopted.

The “common core” groups call for “stability and appeasement”. “Voting a motion of censure would amount to plunging the country into the unknown,” believe, in a joint text, Gabriel Attal (Together for the Republic), Laurent Wauquiez (Republican Right, ex-LR), Marc Fesneau (MoDem) and Laurent Marcangeli (Horizons and Independents). They call for “choose between political calculations and the general interest”.

Will Michel Barnier's first 49.3 be his last? As expected, the Prime Minister committed his government to responsibility for the PLFSS for the first time, believing that he had arrived “at the end of the dialogue”. “This moment of truth confronts everyone with their responsibilities. (…) The French expect stability”he said to the deputies.

A final concession to the RN and a refusal. At midday, Michel Barnier had “committed to ensuring that there is no delisting of medicines” in 2025, responding to a request from the National Rally of Marine Le Pen, with whom the Prime Minister had spoken at the end of the morning. Before the start of the session in the Assembly, it had further increased the pressure, announcing that it had “tabled an amendment on the renunciation of the deindexation of pensions”. A final request rejected by the government.
