It has been several years since the town of La Garenne-Colombes (Hauts-de-Seine) began its cultural transformation. Wedged between Courbevoie and Colombes, two towns with a active politics in favor of culture, La Garenne-Colombes is redoubling its efforts so that its inhabitants have access to new services. In 2026, two places must see the light of day: a cinema and a conservatory.
Improve the cultural offer
This cultural revival began under the mandate of Philippe Juvin (LR), then mayor of the city until 2022, with the project for the very first cinema. The place will see the light of day in the town in 2026, and will be equipped with 3 dark rooms able to accommodate up to 370 spectators. The town hall assures that prices will be between 6 and 7 euros on average and hopes to obtain the label Arts and Essays after a year, like the Alcaraz cinema in Asnières-sur-Seine.
A few steps from the future space, still rue d'Estienne-d'Orves, a new conservatorycompletely new, is under construction. Its opening is also planned for 2026. It will accommodate the learning of music, dance and theater. If cinema is something newthe future conservatory will replace existing, but aging, equipment.
This new building, intended for Living Artswill thus be composed of three pavilions under a zinc roof placed on a large buried base which will extend over 1,000 m2 on the ground and 2,500 m2 in total. The cost of the work is estimated at approximately 12,000,000 euros, of which more than 4,000,000 are subsidized by the Hauts-de-Seine department.
An already rich program
This equipment, brand new and “built respecting the latest standards environmental”, according to the municipality, will complement the current cultural offering with the Mastaba 1 (2006), the Media Library (2012) and the Theater (2014).
For the cultural season 2024-2025, the town has also worked hard with a rich theater and musical program. For example, the singer Sheila will give a concert mid-December in the La Garenne theater. Then, while waiting for the new cinema, the auditorium serves as broadcast room for films. An already well-stocked offering, but which will be expanded thanks to new equipment.
