This Saturday, Sisteron experienced a historic moment with the laying of the first stone of its future Rescue Center. Daniel Spagnou, mayor of the city, chaired this ceremony in the company of a host of personalities: Eliane Barreille, president of the Departmental Council, Marc Chappuis, Prefect of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Jean-Yves Roux, senator, and many other local and departmental elected officials. Colonel Sylvain Besson, director of SDIS04, and Captain Matthieu Jardy, commander of the Sisteron fire brigade company, were also present, surrounded by the strong forces of the fire brigade, young people from the Municipal Youth Council (CMJ), as well as as well as representatives of the Gendarmerie and the Municipal Police.
A construction site of impressive dimensions
With a total area of 1,200 m², the future center promises to be a model of modernity. With 682 m² dedicated to garages and sheds for intervention vehicles, 257 m² reserved for offices and training rooms, and 229 m² of operational and living premises, the infrastructure will meet the growing needs of the emergency services. The whole will be completed by a vast maneuvering area of 1,000 m². This project, with a total cost of 3.148 million euros excluding tax, marks a crucial step for the city and its surrounding communities.
Modernization serving citizens
This new building will meet the most demanding energy and environmental standards. It will be equipped with the latest technologies to optimize the interventions of Sisteron's 64 volunteer firefighters and improve their training, particularly that of cadets. “This center is much more than a workplace. It is a symbol of our common commitment to the safety of all,” said Daniel Spagnou. A collective commitment to safety The ceremony highlighted the solidarity between Sisteron and the seven neighboring municipalities (Salignac, Entrepierres, Saint-Geniez, Mison, Bevons, Valernes and Vaumeilh), whose mayors were present. This project reflects a common vision: that of a territory that invests in the security and well-being of its inhabitants. The future Sisteron Rescue Center, expected in 2026, will be a real source of pride for the region and a major asset in facing the challenges of tomorrow.
