Recipient error. A guard at the Brest remand center (Finistère) discovered a package of drugs initially intended for an inmate, at his office this Saturday, report Ouest-France and France 3 Finistère.
The prison employee discovered the package when he started work, at 6:30 a.m., on the windowsill of his office. Inside were a few grams of cannabis, three cell phones, two pairs of headphones and two chargers, indicates Ouest-France.
According to the FO-Pénitentiaire union delegate in Brest, Reynald Cochennec, this illicit package was distributed by a drone, operated by pilots present outside the prison. “Since mid-2024, these drone deliveries had replaced projections” in walking areas, he explains. And adds: “There, they used the wrong window, but usually, they deliver the detainees directly.”
After the discovery of this package delivered by mistake to one of their colleagues, guards at the Brest remand center also found two additional packages.
Cocaine and heroin were also found on two inmates. Enough to make the prison union say that parcels enter the prison grounds daily.
“It’s a concern for us. We have already found a ceramic knife in a package, opinel knives in the cell…”, explains the Ufap-Unsa union delegate Thierry Labro, who deplores “pathologies” and “behavioral problems” among the prisoners, due to consumption of hard drugs.
