This is an XXL project which will begin this Monday, December 2, in Charente-Maritime. The department presented, this Monday, November 25, this project for “redevelopment and beautification of the Belvedere and the toll site”, in La Rochelle, at the foot of the Île de Ré bridge.

The objective is to create an exchange hub (with parking, carpooling area, public transport) “central and shaded, also highlighting the nearby seaside landscape”. In total, 645 parking spaces will be created and 350 trees will be planted.
The work will be divided into three phases:
- December 2024 to June 2025: resumption of all parking spaces
- September 2025 to June 2026: construction of the parking lot in the current load-shedding zone and requalification of the entire coastal strip
- September 2026 to June 2027: redevelopment of the toll station parking lot.
This project costs 6 million euros. He is “entirely financed from the departmental share of the Pont de Ré ecotax” says the department.
