More than a hundred Ile-de-France farmers gathered Thursday, November 28 in the morning in front of the INRAE headquarters, in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, in a symbolic action at the call of Young Farmers and the FDSEA. They built a concrete block wall about two meters high to denounce the uselessness of this institute and demand its closure.
“Today, INRAE has a budget of one billion euros per year, it is supposed to be a partner of the agricultural world, but for 50 years nothing has come out of it at all”denounces Victor Rabier, general secretary of Young Farmers in Île-de-France and farmer in Pussay, in Essonne. “We don’t need it”he believes.
“We have restrictions on the use of certain products without effective alternative solutions, which leads to production losses”testified Rémi Pierrard, a beet and cereal producer based near Provins, in Seine-et-Marne, and member of the Young Farmers union.
Second gathering in front of Anses
The farmers, who did not come with their tractor, had also installed a banner “For sale, no longer useful, lease to transfer” in front of the institute. By 7:30 a.m., they began to disperse.
The farmers then headed to Maisons-Alfort, in Val-de-Marne, to meet in front of another state agency, ANSES, the National Food Safety Agency. They denounce the multiplication of agricultural standards.
