Unusual event in Gironde. In Langon, a water leak was detected under the A62 motorway, which connects Bordeaux to Toulouse.
The leak lasted less than a day in early November. She was quickly identified thanks to the alert system with which the city's main pumping station is equipped.
The leak detected very quickly
“We very quickly saw that something abnormal was happening,” attests Patrick Poujardieu, Langon municipal councilor responsible for water and sanitation, at the Republican South-Gironde.
Fortunately, the problem was therefore detected in time and the leak located in record time. “The leak lasted less than a day,” continues the local elected official. People driving on the highway didn't realize it. »
No impact on the A62 motorway
This flow did not cause a traffic accident on the A62. Its main impact: a ditch along the highway found itself filled with water.
Our network being particularly well meshed, we isolated the part concerned. This is a pipeline, passing under the A62 and supplying a station which, itself, supplies the outside of the city.
And to supply said station, the water services now use another part of the network.
No water cut: mission successful for the town hall
The residents of the area hardly see the difference… When they turn on the tap, water flows normally or almost. “There is only a very slight drop in pressurespecifies Patrick Poujardieu. But everyone has water, that was our goal. »
80 meters of pipe to change
What’s next? A specialized company is expected in the coming days to remove the faulty pipe and replace it. This operation promises to be delicate and “heavy”, by Patrick Poujardieu’s own admission. “This represents 80 meters of pipe to change,” specifies the elected official from Langon. This is an intervention that is not frequent and fortunately! »
But let people be reassured. Here again, the action will go unnoticed: “We are not going to make a trench on the highway. »
