“It’s a true story!” ” spear Michel Mauxion, Wednesday November 27, 2024.
This resident of Mené (Côtes-d'Armor), almost 62 years old, has recorded his teenage memories in two livres : one in gallothe other in French.
A chestnut evening with friends
“In the mud of the colèje, he saw a beautiful berouette, a little pertuzée. Ol was unloaded there…” On the back cover, at the back of the book, the summary in Gallo sets the tone…
The French version is there for the non-gallants. The Wheelbarrow Thief or Le Volou d’bérouette is a book signed by Michel Mauxionof Plessala.
It's during a chestnut evening, with friends, everyone tells their story, the old-fashioned way.
My story was well received. Jérôme Lucas asked me several times to write it.
Jerome Lucasfrom the neighboring commune, Plouguenast-Langast, is the conveyor of memories local ; he also has a publishing houseÉditions Récits.
“Michel Mauxion is a good storyteller. And since his story is a story…” he slips.
A schoolboy accused of being a wheelbarrow thief
The story is that of Michel, so in pension au college private of Plouguenast, in the 1970s.
Wednesday was relaxing. We were walking and I saw this wheelbarrow, which had been thrown there, abandoned. I figured it would serve me well on the farm.
While he has to take the bus at the end of the week to reach his parents' farm, 10 km away, in Plessala, the teenager does not show up.
He went to get this wheelbarrow “very heavy, but with legs. It still had a hole and was covered with traces of cement…”
A children's book in Gallo is not common
The rest is history, that of the two books published, one in Gallo and the second in French. Let's not reveal everything…
This story is an opportunity to publish a children's book in Gallo, there aren't many.
In charge of checking the Gallo-French translation, André Le Coq, retired teacher from Loudéac, adds: “For primaryit's perfect. »
He recalls that there are programs for the discovery of Gallo in schools, short training courses for teachers also with the Brittany Region and the Gallo Institute.
“Mischievous” illustrations
And for these children’s books in Gallo and French, “mischievous” illustrations comments Jérôme Lucas.
L’illustrator is his niece, Juliette Lucastrained graphic designer, from Morlaix, in Finistère.
Drawings in shimmering colors, with precise lines. Farm life in Central Brittany 50 years ago comes back to life under his pencil.
“I haven’t met her,” says Michel Mauxion, who discovers, taking his book in hand: “Her wheelbarrow is less damaged than the one I found…”
