He stayed in Essonne for less than two years. THE prefect delegate for equal opportunities, Alain Castanier going soon leave office in the department. During the last council of ministers, on Wednesday November 27, 2024, he was appointed prefect of Gers.

A very broad scope of action

The senior official arrived in Essonne in April 2023 to succeed Anne Frackowiak-Jacobs, who left for the Creuse prefecture.

Like his predecessors, he was in charge of leading and coordinating state mechanisms in the areas of employment, education, housing, urban renewal, citizenship with the aim of making the Republican pact effective, particularly in the 39 priority districts covered by city policy.

In this context, he had to, with his representatives in the neighborhoods, support actions in favor of social cohesion, equal opportunities as well as initiatives contributing to the fight against all forms of discrimination.

The name of his successor is not known

Work carried out in close collaboration with the prefect Bertrand Gaume then his successor Frédérique Camilleri, but also the municipalities.

As such, Alain Castanier was, for example, present on Monday at the Marcel Carné cinema in Saint-Michel-sur-Orge to welcome the screening of the short film Don't touch my lifecarried out by the town of Sainte-Geneviève-des- and the local CCAS, as part of the day to combat violence against women.

The name of his or her replacement for this function has not been not yet been communicated.
