Carbon monoxide poisoning in Roquemaure in , 29 firefighters mobilized for the intervention.

The SDIS 30 firefighters intervened this Wednesday, November 27 at the end of the morning, Chemin du Guidan in Roquemaure in the Gard. The intervention, mobilizing 29 firefighters, lasted almost two hours. The reason: a carbon monoxide poisoning (CO) caused by a faulty heater.

Two intoxicated people were quickly treated by emergency services. After an on-site medical examination, they were transported to the clinic Urban V of which is equipped with a hyperbaric chamber.

Eight other people living in adjoining accommodation were also checked by emergency services. Although exposed, they did not present symptoms justifying transport to a hospital facility.

Carbon monoxide, an invisible enemy

Carbon monoxide, an odorless, colorless and tasteless gas, remains a frequent cause of domestic poisoning, sometimes fatal, in winter.Every year in , nearly 5,000 people are exposed to carbon monoxide poisoning and around a hundred die.
