Louisa Chaperon, Clémence Fillatre and Cloé Chrétienne, from the Sol50 association, savored the progress made in three years, Saturday November 23, 2024, during the inauguration of the planets Mercury and Venus, the last two of their solar system at the impressive scale.

“One centimeter represents 2,300 kilometers, recall the founding members of this collective. In total, the different planets extend over 40 kilometers, in several municipalities in the South Channel, making it the largest reproduction of the solar system in France. »
La Haye-Pesnel now hosts four planets of this project aimed at raising awareness among the general public. “We wanted to make science accessible to residents of the South Channel who do not have a planetarium,” states Louisa Chaperon.
A 6-meter dome in the works
Final stage of this ambitious work, carried out in conjunction with the teaching team of the Louis-Beuve college in La Haye-Pesnel: the installation of a dome six meters in diameter, representing the sun, within the grounds of the establishment. “The project is still at the reflection stage”, indicates Nathalie Gaudet, principal of the establishment.
