This Wednesday, November 27, 2024, the farmers of Gard led a day of action called “Alaska” in Nîmes. Under the leadership of the FDSEA and the JA, angry farmers gathered at 6 a.m. in front of the Departmental Directorate of Territories and the Sea (DDTM) in the Pissevin sector. Then, they headed towards the ring road, targeting the Mutualité Sociale Agricole (MSA) building. Several fires were lit. The demonstrators are now heading towards the Crédit Agricole headquarters.

The situation there became tense. Protesters broke the windows of the MSA du Gard headquarters in Nîmes and spread slurry on the walls. The entrance to the premises was symbolically walled up. A fire was also lit in front of the premises. The police responded by using tear gas to disperse the demonstrators and secure the area.

At the same time, farmers blocked part of President Salvador Allende Avenue in Nimesdisrupting traffic. This day of action, marked by punchy actions, reflects the anger and determination of farmers of Gard in the face of their demands.
