Rescue operations severely congested the A1 motorway last night in the Oise, between Longueil-Sainte-Marie and Pontpoint.
Bisons Futé raised up to 1.5 km of traffic jams in the sense Lille-Paris around 10:30 p.m. this night of Monday, November 25, 2024. The reason for these difficulties is not trivial.
A chain of punctures after the loss of a load
If there was no accident strictly speaking, the gendarmerie highway platoon was called to the scene due to a “series of punctures” having affected a large number of vehicles traveling that evening on this axis, learned Oise News.
At least eight cars found themselves with warnings lit on the highway emergency lane in the middle of the night after suffering a puncture, sometimes on several wheels.
A vehicle which passed just before would have lost its “trailer ramp”, indicates a source.
Traffic impacted until 1 a.m.
The following vehicles found themselves stopped one behind the other for several hundred meters after driving over debris or metal parts, which resulted in cascading punctures.
These did not result in a serious accident but motorists had to have their tires changed or call the tow truck, which still impacted traffic for several kilometers.
Towing and rescue operations continued until one in the morning, time to secure and clean the road.
