The alert was given at 5:30 a.m. this Tuesday, November 26, by an owner of one of the apartments in Risoul. “He was awakened by two large explosions,” explains Lieutenant Nicolas Bonnet, group leader at the Guillestre fire and rescue center. When we arrived, the house was completely engulfed in flames. The two families left on their own. We took care of a victim inconvenienced by smoke releases who was evacuated by ambulance by the firefighters to the Embrun hospital center.” His state of health does not cause any particular concern.

On site, 35 firefighters and 10 vehicles were engaged (Guillestre, Chorges, Embrun, Châteauroux and le Cellier). Two terraced houses (two apartments) were affected by this fire. “The upper floors were completely destroyed, the rest was partially saved.”

At 11 a.m., there were still some flames remaining. “We are trying to contain them and secure the area. Surveillance rounds will be organized until the early evening.”

A gendarmerie investigation is underway to determine the causes of the incident. According to initial information, the explosion which preceded the fire took place in a room used for distillation.
