This is the big revelation of these legislative elections. Let it be said: in Hénin-Beaumont (Pas-de-Calais), there is not just one Marine who is making people talk about her. There is “the other Marine”. The energetic Marine Tondelier, 37 years old, national secretary of Europe Ecologie Les Verts (EELV) since 2022, which became Les Ecologistes. In recent days, she has been everywhere, on all the sets, at all the demonstrations, and is showing her claws, accustomed, in her stronghold, to living with the RN in power.
The leader of the Ecologists, whose jacket in the colours of her party has become iconic, also takes on the role of someone who seeks to unite the left beyond their disagreements, a role she has already exercised within her own party. She is not afraid of words or confrontations. It was she who, on Sunday evening, called for the “construction of a new republican front” in the second round of the legislative elections, sending a message to Emmanuel Macron’s camp. Because she finds it “incomprehensible that some people continue not to differentiate between the left and the far right”.
