The driver of a vehicle tested positive for alcohol by the motorized platoon of Mont-de-Marsan (Landes).
The motorized platoon from Mont-de-Marsan carried out a significant road check in the communes of Campet and Lamolère in the Landes. A driver traveling in a Volkswagen Touran was stopped and tested for alcohol and drugs, revealing multiple serious offenses.
A blood alcohol level above the authorized limits
During the check, the gendarmes noted a blood alcohol level of 0.54 mg of alcohol per liter of exhaled air, well exceeding the legal threshold.
However, the violations did not stop there. A strong smell of cannabis emanated not only from the interior of the car but also from the driver's clothing. The latter was immediately subjected to a saliva screening. The test came back positive for cannabis and cocaine, confirming the suspicions of law enforcement.
Unrenewed license and other violations
In addition, the gendarmes discovered that the man was driving with a non-extended driving license, adding an administrative offense to the already worrying list.
After his arrest, the driver was taken into police custody and presented before the Mont-de-Marsan judicial court for an immediate appearance. Faced with the seriousness of the facts, the courts imposed the following sanctions: 12 months' imprisonment, including 6 months, without a warrant. Cancellation of driving license with a ban on applying for it for 1 month. Confiscation of the Volkswagen Touran vehicle. Obligation of care to fight against addictions. Obligation to work, in order to promote his reintegration. Viable accommodation requirement, to guarantee personal stability.
A warning for all drivers
This case once again illustrates the zero tolerance applied by law enforcement to behavior endangering road safety. The combination of alcohol, drugs and administrative violations poses a serious threat to road users. The sanctions imposed aim to prevent further deviations and to hold offenders accountable.
