Acadian Games in 2025: Dieppe wants to draw inspiration from the success of Grand Bouctouche

The organizing committee of the 44th Acadian Games final, in Dieppe in 2025, intends to draw inspiration from the enormous community success of Grand-Bouctouche.

The flame of the 43rd Acadian Games final in Grand-Bouctouche had barely gone out on Monday when the team for the 44th was already hard at work, according to the president of the organizing committee for this final, Michel Melanson.

We are excited. We have already started the work two months ago. Our whole team is made up of people who have a lot of experience and who have lived through a lot of finals.explained the president on the show La matinale on Tuesday.

Our biggest challenge is to imitate Bouctouche a little to at least ensure the same standard at the Games.

The next Acadian youth sports and cultural event will take place in the Southeast region. Activities will be concentrated at Mathieu-Martin School, CCNB and UNIplex, with the exception of athletics at Anna-Malenfant School, mountain biking at Rotary Park and the demonstration sport, disc golf, at Lakeburn Park.

Nearly 800 volunteers will be needed to run the six-day event, which will host nearly 1,300 athletes and supporters. Since Memramcook in 2023, the competitions have been divided into two blocks.

Our entire team was present in Bouctouche. We noted suggestions to guide, improve and adjust to the new format of the Games. Memramcook initiated it, Grand-Bouctouche refined it and we hope to put our touch to improve it. maintains Michel Melanson.

The other big challenge for the organizing committee is to ensure a regional identity. Dieppe is making the 44th final a community priority.

When Dieppe wanted the Games, one of the comments we heard was that we didn’t want the final to be lost among other events. So we made it our priority. Before the closing ceremony in Bouctouche, I spoke about it with Mayor Yvon Lapierre. We already have ideas to make the Games visible and to engage the entire population.said the president of the organizing committee.
