On the night of Monday 18 to Tuesday 19 November 2024, two vans were stolenas well as almost all of professional tools and equipment from a company in Caillouet-Orgeville, east of Évreux (Eure).
A van spotted in Marcilly-sur-Eure
Friday November 22, one of the two vans was spotted in Marcilly-sur-Eure. THE gendarmes of the community of brigades of Ivry-la-Bataille have set up an interception system with two roadblocks in the commune, with the support of the gendarmes of Nonancourt and the PSIG of Évreux.
The driver of the van, followed by an accomplice driving in a Renault Clio, tried to go around the roadblock and headed towards Eure-et-Loirstarting a chase with the police.
A thirty-year-old arrested
Blocked by a second roadblock, the two drivers refused to comply and tried to return to Marcilly, where the soldiers had deployed a harrow to immobilize the van. The two men fled on foot, pursued by the police. The driver of the van was arrested and taken into custody. Aged around thirty and residing in the area, he will appear in court shortly.
The driver of the Renault Clio managed to escape, despite the support of a helicopter. As of Monday evening, he was still on the run. The 2nd stolen van was found in Brézolles (Eure-et-Loir).
It is impossible to know, at the moment, if the cases are linked, but during the night of Sunday November 24 to Monday November 25, a van containing professional equipment was stolen in Saint-André-de-l'Eure. The vehicle was found burned Monday morning, on the edge of Plessis-Hébert. The gendarmes of the Ivry-la-Bataille / Saint-André-de-l'Eure brigade community are responsible for the investigation.
