In Beaune, a bastion of the right, they are proud to have voted for the National Rally, “an honourable party, anything but racist”

With 45.3% of the vote, René Lioret, the RN candidate for the 5th constituency of Côte-d’Or, crushed the competition in the first round of the 2024 legislative elections. In Beaune, a bastion of the so-called Republican right, the National Rally’s score no longer moves many people.

This time, in the city as in the countryside, it was René Lioret who swept the board for the National Rally with 45.3% of the vote. He was almost 15 points ahead of his first competitor, the outgoing deputy of the presidential majority Didier Paris (31%). Jérôme Flache brought up the rear for the New Popular Front with 19.3%.

A sign of the times, the difference is becoming less and less felt between the rural and urban vote concerning the National Rally program. As proof, even in the wealthy city of Beaune, Didier Paris is trailing by 54 small votes, in what was then a right-wing stronghold.

An RN vote fully assumed by Frédéric, a fifty-year-old who castigates “the disappearance of the republican right, capable of allying itself with macronie“. And to add that, for him, “The National Rally is a republican party, honorable, respectable and anything but racist.” for which he is proud to have voted.

The same goes for Emilie, whom I met a little further on. She too is satisfied with this result and aspires to change.like all French people“, explaining that she has “nothing to lose“to vote RN.

Another lady, this time retired, is pleased with this result without having yet slipped an RN ballot into the ballot box. She rejects any idea of voting for the New Popular Front, embodied by “Melenchon“, which here acts as a deterrent. For her, yesterday’s vote can be explained by a feeling of fed-upness with delinquency and attacks that are not condemned harshly enough by a justice system that is too lukewarm for her taste.

The people of Beaune that our teams met today are ultimately quite satisfied with this vote, sometimes surprised, but impatient to judge on the facts the program of a party that they now consider as “respectable“.

The RN candidate for the second round of the legislative elections will hold a public meeting on Tuesday July 2 at the Marie de Bourgogne tower.
