Each time he appears before the courts, the charges are more serious; this time the defendant is taking a big risk and he has fully grasped this.

When you have a criminal record already blackened by 12 mentions, it is obvious that you have some experience in the courts. The young defendant, in agreement with his counsel, wisely prefers to use the right given to him during an immediate appearance procedure: he asks for time to prepare his defense. By the adjournment date, he would obviously like to regain his freedom under judicial supervision. He beats his breast and apologizes profusely: “I made the wrong choice, I regret it, but I had found a small seasonal job, I wanted so much to work to support my family.”

The court is now content to decide on a possible release or provisional detention. There is vague mention of a reversing maneuver and a percussion of the victim on June 27 in Torreilles. A completely involuntary gesture according to the defendant. A version contradicted by the victim and by two witnesses.

“I won’t drive anymore, that’s for sure! My family will drive me to work.”
“You’ve already said that in 2021, in 2022, in 2024,” thunders the president, “it’s always the same thing; how can we believe you? You got back behind the wheel the day after your license was revoked!”
“He did not understand the stakes of the procedure,
hammers the prosecutor. We are not going to judge yet another case of driving without a license, but rather violence with a weapon! There is a risk of repetition and pressure. I am requesting continued detention.”

“He went to the police himself.recalls M.e Hawks. He delivered his vehicle to them and told them to destroy it so that he would no longer use it! As for the pressure, the witnesses have already been heard and everything has been recorded…”

The court decided to keep the defendant in prison until his trial, which will take place in less than two weeks.
