This is the only three-way race in the second round of these legislative elections in Deux-Sèvres. Voters in the first constituency, Niort, will have the choice between three ballots on Sunday, July 7, 2024.

Anxious to enlighten them in their choice and to play its role in leading the public debate to bring local democracy to life, The New Republic will organize a debate between the three candidates on Wednesday, July 3. Bastien Marchive (various centers), Nathalie Lanzi (New Popular Front) and Dorothée Champeau (National Rally) have accepted the invitation to compare their visions and defend their proposals.

The debate will be hosted by Luc Bourrianne, editor-in-chief, and Baptiste Bize, publishing director of The New Republic from Deux-Sèvres. Recorded in the afternoon, it will be put online on lanr.fr on Wednesday from 6 p.m.

MP for the first constituency of Deux-Sèvres since 2022 and from the team of Jérôme Baloge, mayor of Niort, Bastien Marchive created a surprise on Sunday, June 30, by coming out on top in the first round with more than 40% of the vote. He distanced himself from Emmanuel Macron the day after the dissolution, and is running as an independent candidate from the center.

Regional councillor of Nouvelle-Aquitaine and first federal secretary of the Socialist Party of Deux-Sèvres, Nathalie Lanzi, thought she could impose herself in this constituency long anchored on the left. Chosen to carry the colours of the New Popular Front, she obtained 32.8% of the votes. She is running in the second round as the bearer of the “only alternative to the RN”.

Living in Vasles, near Parthenay, and working as a service agent in a cleaning company, Dorothée Champeau represents the National Rally in Niortais. She took advantage of the momentum of the European elections to make a breakthrough in the first round of the legislative elections, with 24.63% in the constituency least favorable to the extreme right.

The debate will be broadcast on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, from 6 p.m., on lanr.fr
