Tuesday, 6 p.m.: Deadline for submission of applications

On Sunday, the turnout was exceptional in the first round of elections. In fact, many constituencies found themselves in a three-way situation – or even a four-way situation in a handful of cases. Since then, negotiations for withdrawals began on Sunday evening, and theAFP has already announced that at least 200 candidates qualified for the second round have withdrawn in order to block the National Rally. The names of the candidates for the second round will be known as of this Tuesday, 6 p.m., the deadline for submitting applications to the prefecture.

Wednesday and Thursday: televised debates

Debates are planned on BFMTV et France 2. For now, the participants are not yet known. As revealed Politico This morning, Gabriel Attal and Jordan Bardella would refuse to debate against Marie Toussaint, the candidate nevertheless designated by the New Popular Front, and the channel would put pressure on the NFP to find another candidate. From Wednesday 12 p.m. to Thursday, July 4, 2024, 6 p.m., Paris time, French voters residing abroad will have the possibility of voting online.

Saturday: the first French people will vote

The second round will begin on Saturday, July 6 for voters residing in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, Saint-Barthélemy, Saint-Martin, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyana and French Polynesia, as well as for voters voting in offices opened by embassies and consular posts located on the American continent.

Sunday: French people living in mainland France called to the polls

The second round of voting, in constituencies where it is necessary to do so, will take place according to the same arrangements as the first round, on Sunday, July 7 in mainland France. Polling stations will open at 8 a.m., and will close for the most part at 6 p.m. In some large cities, such as Rennes and Nantes, they will close at 7 p.m. In others, such as Paris and Marseille, they will remain open until 8 p.m., when the first national results will be known. Then, a new political sequence will begin.
