An English rugby legend signs for Vannes!

Having just been promoted to the Top 14, RC Vannes has just gained a major reinforcement this Tuesday by formalizing the signing of a former English international. Undoubtedly the biggest recruit in its history.

Vannes is well on the way to changing dimension. A little less than a month after winning the Pro D2, and thus validating its promotion to the Top 14 for the first time in its historythe Breton club is building a squad worthy of its ambitions. After announcing the recruitment of Fijian winger Filipo Nakosi from Castres on Monday, RC Vannes made the signing of Mako Vunipola official on Tuesday.

A Saracens player since 2011, the English left pillar has built up a colossal track record with five English Championships (2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2023) and two European Cups (2016 and 2017). At 33, he will have his first experience abroad with Vannes, having so far only played for Bristol and then Saracens.

While he has been a figure of Saracens for almost thirteen years, Mako Vunipola has also left his mark on the English selection. With the XV de la Rose, he participated in two World Cups (2015 and 2019) and won the Six Nations Tournament three times (2016, 2017, 2020). The fourth most capped pillar in the history of English rugby (79 caps), he nevertheless retired from international football in January 2024.

Mako Vunipola has signed a two-year contract with RC Vannes, with whom he is therefore linked until 2026. His signing shows that the Vannes club wants to establish itself in the Top 14 for the long term, and is putting the means to achieve this.

The words “Minnesota Miracle” and “No-Call” are erased from my vocabulary. My heart mourns the retirement of Drew Brees.
