As part of the festivities linked to the Montreal International Jazz Festival, on Friday, June 28, the Louisiana Tourism Office organized an intimate dinner by inviting its partners, travel agents, media and tour operators.

Tourisme Louisiane had the pleasure of inviting its guests to an exclusive event dedicated to tourism in Louisiana at the Ferreira Café, on Peel Street.

Before dinner, the various partners were able to enjoy a good glass of red or white wine during a small welcome cocktail, thus immersing themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of Louisiana.

“We celebrate Louisiana through the Montreal International Jazz Festival. There are many connections between Canada and Louisiana,” says Charlie Whinham, public information officer with the Louisiana Tourism Office.

“This is our second year as a sponsor of the Montreal Jazz Festival with our own bandstand. Jazz was born in New Orleans and it’s fascinating to see how it has evolved over the decades. It’s also our way of encouraging people to discover our state, rich in music, culture and gastronomy.”

Afterwards, guests enjoyed a three-course meal before attending a concert as part of the Jazz Festival.

LOUISIANA IN 2024

Charlie Whinham did not hesitate to praise the merits of Louisiana when asked about how travel agents could promote this destination to Quebecers:

“Louisiana is truly unique in many ways. There is a special connection between Acadians and our state. Louisiana has a unique way of nourishing the soul. It is also a place rich in history, ideal for discovering our past. The gastronomy is exceptional. In short, Louisiana is an adventure in itself.”

Charlie Whinham acknowledges that New Orleans, located on the banks of the Mississippi River, is very popular in Louisiana, but he encourages travel agents to let travelers know that there is so much more to discover in his state.

“Of course, New Orleans is our gateway. However, if you have time, I recommend visiting Lafayette and the Cajun country, Baton Rouge, the bayous and historic plantations… We are always available to answer any questions about our destination and what to do there. Louisiana has over 400 music festivals a year and is a great place to visit all year round.”

In conclusion, this evening was the perfect opportunity to meet with Louisiana tourism representatives, exchange ideas and discover how to enrich your clients’ trips through this captivating destination.
