Diamniadio, July 2 (APS) – A database of all the winners of the Concours général will be launched on July 25, announced the Minister of National Education, Moustapha Guirassy.

The launch of this platform is planned for the occasion of the awards ceremony of the Concours Général at the Grand Théâtre Doudou Ndiaye Rose.

The major innovation of the 2024 edition of the Concours Général is the launch of a digital platform with the names, career paths and functions held by former winners in Senegal and wherever they are in the world, said Moustapha Mamba Guirassy.

He spoke on Monday during a press briefing to announce the results of prestigious competitions which distinguish the best students in the first and final years of Senegal in several disciplines.

The objective is to have traceability of all former winners with an exemplary career and who occupy prestigious positions here and elsewhere, he noted.

For the Minister of National Education, “all these products of the Senegalese school must be on a database to bring something to the State of Senegal.”

He also said he wanted to make the event “popular” by screening the awards ceremony in various public places that had already been identified.

The Concours Général will leave the Grand Théâtre hall to have “a social dimension and connect the country’s great figures to this celebration of excellence,” he said.

Created by decree 61-213 of May 30, 1961, amended by decree 61-454 of December 4, 1961, the General Competition organized for the Première and Terminale classes of general technical education allows “to evaluate candidates on subjects in accordance with the official programs but of a more demanding level” than that of traditional examinations and competitions.

In 2024, students took part in 32 disciplines in total with 112 distinctions awarded with an initial 3,203 candidates, including 1,695 in the first year and 1,508 in the final year.
