The Verbier Saint-Bernard Trail, now labelled by UTMB, is one of the trail events abroad that attracts a lot of Belgians. There will be more than 300 (311 registered in total) taking part in one of the four events offered from this Friday at 10pm, the start of the X Alpine which offers 140 km and a little less than 950 metres of positive elevation gain.
- On the X Alpine in XXL format (140 km and 9300 D +), 37 Belgians
- On the X Crossing (76 km and 5300 D +), 104 Belgians
- In the Verbier Marathon (42 km and 3000 D +), 96 Belgians
- On the Verbier X-Plore (26 km and 1700 D +), 74 Belgians

In total, some 5,000 participants are expected.
The Verbier St-Bernard Trail is an event renowned for its technical trails, alpine passes and breathtaking views of the glaciers. Participants will discover must-sees such as the Great St. Bernard Pass, the suspension bridge in the Panossière region and spectacular viewpoints of the Grand Combin (4,314 m), one of the highest peaks in the Alps.
With more snow on the agenda, as evidenced by the fact that the organization added trail crampons to the menu of mandatory equipment for participants in the longer distances at the beginning of the week.
“What is great about this race, which is both demanding but not too technical, is the variety of landscapes, from high mountains to glaciers”explains Matthieu Girard, race director.
We should particularly note the presence at the start of the X-Alpine of Frenchwoman Claire Bannwarth, an ultra enthusiast who has already completed five since the start of the year.
