A Social and Solidarity Economy, centered on people and respectful of the environment, as a priority axis for the Réunion Region, and included in its new economic development plan entitled “The New Economy”. This is what the Region is announcing, which, through this plan, aims to promote direct aid for solidarity initiatives; the qualification and support of project leaders; but also a strategy co-constructed with partners such as the Regional Chamber of the ESS.
During the conference dedicated to the ESS this Monday, November 25, the president of the Region, Huguette Bello, participated in the awards ceremony to reward the remarkable initiatives of the territory.
Ecological transition prize: awarded by the Region and BRED to Bee Run Apiculture.
Social utility prize: awarded by the State and Crédit Agricole to Access-Educ.
ESS regional prize: awarded by CRESS and ESS France to the two regional winners, who will represent Reunion in the ESS national competition.
In her speech, Huguette Bello recalled the importance of the ESS for the development of the territory: “The social and solidarity economy provides answers to the most vulnerable. It also participates in an inclusive development model that creates jobs and produces social ties. Above all, it carries with it a different way of undertaking and consuming, placing people before the product and the service provided before profit..
She also underlined the strategic issue of this conference: “These privileged moments of reflection and exchange should allow us to continue to outline the lines of a strong and ambitious regional strategy. I am given the opportunity to reaffirm all the ambition that the Réunion Region has for the social and solidarity economy. This translates into direct aid, but also through the qualification of project leaders and support for the structuring of actors”.
