With inflation, cities find themselves obliged to act to regulate their spending. Among the latter, public lighting represents a significant weight. The French ecological transition observatory allows us to know how the departments have chosen to modulate this budget. In Yvelines, between 80% and 90% of municipalities choose to turn off or lower the power of public lighting during the hours of the night when this has the least impact on the safety and comfort of users. A positive point also for biodiversity, with a reduction in light pollution.
