Invited to the 8pm news on TF1 like Jordan Bardella (RN), Gabriel Attal (Ensemble!) and Raphaël Glucksmann (Place publique/NFP), the LR president of Hauts-de-Seine Xavier Bertrand estimated this Monday July 1st that, rather than a “RN government or a backroom coalition”it was necessary at this moment to consider “a government of national revival”.

The day after the legislative elections on Sunday, June 30, he also named this idea “provisional government of the Republic”pour “to get the country out of the impasse into which Mr. Macron has plunged it.”

As at the end of the Second World War, when the country had to be rebuilt.

“We don’t play Russian roulette with a country”

“It was just after World War II,” retorted journalist Gilles Bouleau. “Would you be part of this ‘provisional government of public safety’?”

“Do you think I came to drop off a CV because I’m looking for a job?” immediately replied an annoyed Xavier Bertrand.

“We are at a historic moment, if we do not understand that political games must be abandoned,” he continued. “Politics is not a game. This is what I reproach Mr. Macron for, who bet on this dissolution. We do not bet on the people, we do not play Russian roulette with the country.”

“One thing is certain, everyone will have to take responsibility, but once again what matters is that we change policy and respect the French people,” a conclu Xavier Bertrand.
