Veda Maureen Dowdall née Lightbody, passed away peacefully at Victoria Manor Lindsay on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at the age of 85. Veda was the beloved wife of the late Paul A. Dowdall, loving mother of Kevin (Jennifer) Dowdall, the late Andrea Dowdall and Greg (Karyn) Dowdall. She was the cherished grandmother of Carly (Connor), Liam, Claire and Patrick. Veda was the sister of Hugh Lightbody and the late Karen Lightbody. She will be fondly remembered by her family and friends, including her cousins ​​from the Irish coast of Monck Lake.
In the 1940s, Veda moved with the Lightbody family from Ridgetown, Ontario to Lindsay. She attended LCVI High School and then went on to McGill University to earn her degree in Home Economics. She went on to serve her community as a teacher, home economist and volunteer, including as the Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kawartha Lakes.
To celebrate Veda’s life, come to 35 Lindsay Street N., Friday, July 5 from 10:00 a.m. until the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow.
Interment of Veda’s cremated remains will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lindsay and will follow at a later date.
