Gatsby the azurean
What if Gatsby had come to Nice? Hero of the novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Gatsbyan enigmatic millionaire who was more than quick to party, has become over time the symbol of the Roaring Twenties. But then why pay tribute to him here, in Nice? Quite simply because the author wrote a large part of Gatsby the magnificentin France, on the Côte d’Azur. But the common points go further.
The character of Gatsby is said to have been inspired by a man from the Côte d’Azur : “Frank Jay Gould was American. He came to France just after the war. He was a millionaire and He used his fortune to create resorts including the Palais de la Méditerranée. And it is attested that the author of the novel participated in this man’s evenings”, explain Robin Casuto, producer of the immersive experience which takes place all summer at the Palais de la Méditerranée.
