An unusual dry stone construction intended for hikers!
Two kilometers from the town of Queyrières, the students of the Yssingeaux agricultural high school put the finishing touches to the construction site by creating a calade in front of the “Suchaillou”, this unusual dry stone construction intended for hikers on the way to Saint-Jacques -of Compostela.
The “Suchaillou”, a gîte like no other
Perched in the heart of Meygal, a magnificent creation in dry stones (phonoliths) was created by professional wall builders.
Imagined by the designeuse Constance Guissetthis troglodyte shelter offers a breathtaking view of the juices, a real invitation to stop for hikers.
Inside the refuge, hikers will be able to experience the acoustics of the phonolite corbel, a stone that produces a clear sound when struck.
A large glass oculus lets light into the interior of the refuge.
Eventually, dry toilets and a water point will be installed a stone's throw from the work. An orientation table will also be located on the site.
A walk carried out by high school students from Yssingeaux with recycled materials
Students from the Yssingeaux agricultural high school put the finishing touches to the construction site by setting up a cobblestone in front of the “Suchaillou”.
Meticulous work which is part of their training as a landscaper and gardener.
The slates used were recovered from the surrounding area, except for the very large slabs which come from the Pertuis quarry.
