As part of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the François-Truffaut Regional Adapted Education Establishment (EREA) in Mainvilliers (Eure-et-Loir) near Chartres inaugurated a poster this Monday June 24, 2024.

Well, not just any poster! A giant model of some 7 meters by 5 meters that the students and their teachers installed on the gable of the boarding school building. It depicts seventeen students in Olympic and Paralympic sports practice situations.

Creating the poster was a marathon!

This poster is the result of a long-term work on the part of the students of course, their teachers, the management and “external” partners. A real synergy of good vibes.

Hervé Tarrieu, photographer, is the initiator of this project, which was quickly joined by Fabrice Tison, carpentry teacher, as recounted for - Chartres Gilles Dambahadour, teacher:

It all started with the making of a window modeled on that of a Haussmann building by the students of Mr. Tison. Those of Marie-Pierre Landrau, a painting teacher, created a trompe l’oeil work giving the window a very particular color. The students of Thierry Couteau, a metalwork teacher, designed a guardrail.

From there, it was a question of staging the students in and around this window. First step already, to identify the students interested in this project… in view of the general enthusiasm, it was necessary to make a selection.

The photo shoots were therefore able to take place in mid-March with the participation of Nicolas Jan, 3D illustrator, who carried out the editing.

We must of course thank the sports associations that lent equipment following the request of Mr. Lattay, the establishment’s PE teacher: Athlé Chartres Lucé ASPTT Mainvilliers (ACLAM), C’Chartres swimming, fencing, kayaking and disabled sports.

The challenge of production and hanging

Then there remained the technical part relating to tarpaulin printing and to his pose which required several meetings to define the dimensions of the poster, the location and the conditions of exhibition, without forgetting obtaining the necessary authorizations.

Students and teachers finally had to revise their copy because, initially planned for a size of 10 meters by 7 meters, the poster was finally somewhat reduced in order to meet the requirements of the chosen space, “namely the gable of the boarding school building overlooking the roundabout. The printing was done by the company Cartel Shop,” notes the teacher.

The installation was entrusted to the company Chartresenseignes communication on Friday June 21, all of which, to make matters worse, in the pouring rain !

The teachers and management would like to particularly thank and congratulate the seventeen students featured on the poster: Ethan and Kyllian (6th grade), Anaïs (5th grade), Cristal, Alex, Lorenzo, Esteban, Kewan, Inès (4th grade), Laurich, Mathéo, Alexis, Baptiste (3rd grade), Lydia, Mélinda, Curtis (CAP1), Tristan (CAP2).
