24 hours after the first round of early legislative elections and while three-way races could be played out almost everywhere in the four departments of Brittany, the first withdrawals are coming in. Others could be announced by Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 6 p.m., the date of filing of applications for the second round. Everywhere, the candidates of the National Rally are holding on.

Brittany has never had so many three-way races. Except in Ploërmel (Morbihan) where Paul Molac will face the National Rally candidate Katel Le Cuillier and in the 8e constituency of Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine) where the outgoing deputy Mickaël Bouloux (NFP) was elected in the first round, all the Breton constituencies came out of this first round of the legislative elections with three-way contests.

This unprecedented situation, which adds uncertainty to an already tense context, is gradually becoming clearer with the withdrawals of candidates, with the exception of the National Rally (RN) which announced, on the evening of Sunday June 30, that none of its candidates would withdraw….
