This celebration, initiated by La Fayette and approved by the Assembly, symbolizes the solidarity of the French. Highly anticipated, this magnificent fireworks display will light up the sky of Montauban and delight young and old alike. An unforgettable evening! Historically, Benjamin Raspail proposed a law establishing July 14 as a national holiday. This day is also marked by a large parade in Paris in tribute to this historic event, a ceremony broadcast live on television. After July 14, 1919, the military parade took place on the Champs-Élysées (in 1919 with the broken faces), followed by the victorious troops and the French army. The other symbols and emblems of the Republic are the French tricolor flag, liberty, equality, fraternity, the Marseillaise, La Marianne, the rooster, the lictor’s fasces and the seal.
