The longest stage of the Tour de France 2024 takes place this Monday July 1 between Plaisance and Turin (Italy). If the flat stage is promised to the sprinters and should be padlocked by the teams interested in a stage victory, many runners as well as the spectators will therefore spend the day in indifference. But this will not be the case for Valentin Madouas (Groupama – FDJ). Although there is (very) little chance that he will raise his arms in Turin, he will nevertheless have a great day wearing one of the distinctive jerseys of the Tour de France: the best climber’s polka dot jersey.
Abrahamsen, best climber and best sprinter
However, with his 11 points won during the first stage won by Romain Bardet, the Brestois is only in second place in the ranking behind Jonas Abrahamsen (Uno-X) and his 23 points. So why is he wearing it?

Quite simply because the Norwegian rider, who took the breakaways of the first two stages, is also the leader of the points classification for the best sprinter! Which allows him to also be the holder of a green jersey, which, according to the regulations of the Tour de France, takes priority over the polka dot jersey. Which therefore goes to his runner-up, Valentin Madouas.
