Despite the gloomy weather, the public turned out in force.

The two main events of last weekend took place in Grau d’Agde, despite the very uncertain weather forecast. On Saturday morning, the Pointus brotherhood was there to welcome visitors on the Quai du Commandant Méric, the epicentre of this traditional event at the start of the summer season.

After these beautiful tastings of Murex, available in all sauces by the Graulen restaurateurs, the Grau festival committee took up the torch in the afternoon with, at 6 p.m., a mass in homage to the sailors and fishermen of Agde, with the archpriest Yannick Casajus. A moment eagerly awaited by the faithful and the participants. Then a procession set off, led by the peña Les Troubadours, followed by the Belles Agathoises, members of the brotherhood of the Pointus, the Farceurs and the Farceuses and the mayor Sébastien Frey, accompanied by part of his municipal team.

Everyone headed to the sea to lay wreaths in memory of the sailors and fishermen lost at sea. A moment of emotion, silence and contemplation at the end of the pier. Back on the Place des Mûriers, David Masela, president of the festival committee, spoke, greeting “all the volunteers of the festival committee, the brotherhoods present and the public for their presence”. For the mayor, Sébastien Frey, “These events allow us to promote our traditions, our cultures but also our history and the people of Agde and tourists alike are very attached to these events.”
