Halifax Water issued a boil water advisory late Monday for the communities of Beaver Bank, Middle and Lower Sackville, Hammonds Plains, Bedford, Halifax, Timberlea, Spryfiel and Herring Cove.

According to the public water supplier in the regional municipality, there is a risk that the water is not fit for consumption in these communities.

Affected customers should boil water for at least one minute before using it for human consumption.

This boil water advisory will remain in effect until further notice.

In its statement, Halifax Water points to an interactive map on its website to help customers find out if the boil water advisory affects them. But as of Monday night, no map with that information is available on the site. That leaves customers in the eight affected communities unable to know whether or not they are affected.
