First lady Brigitte Macron reacted to the Mazan rape trial on Monday, providing her “unconditional support for all women”.
First Lady Brigitte Macron spoke for the first time on the Mazan rape trial to BFMTV this Monday, November 25, believing that “this trial was essential.
“Things had to be said and they are,” said Brigitte Macron, on this international day for the elimination of violence against women.
The wife of the head of state provided her “unconditional support for all women”. “It's true that we see me more in the field of childhood and adolescence but I am with all women in all the struggles. Everywhere we go in the world we see to what extent it is necessary that “We are fighting because rights are increasingly in decline,” said Brigitte Macron.
“We have to be there and be vigilant”
“I want to tell them how much the president and I stand in solidarity with them and we will help them as much as possible. We have to be there and be vigilant,” the first lady told BFMTV.
The first lady is attending this Monday the presentation of the 6th prize of the Endowment Fund, a ceremony created by the actress Line Renaud to present a prize accompanied by a financial endowment to support a researcher on a major scientific advance.
The public prosecutor requested this Monday the maximum sentence of 20 years of imprisonment against Dominique Pélicot, the main accused in this trial, for having drugged, raped and had his wife raped by dozens of men now aged 26 to 74 years recruited on the internet via the site Coco.fr, now banned.
Sentences of 10 to 13 years were requested against the other defendants. 4 years were requested for Joseph C., the only accused for sexual assault and not for aggravated rape. The verdict in this emblematic trial of sexual violence and chemical submission is expected no later than December 20.
