From October 16 to 20, 2024, Corrèze suffered a large wave of rain, causing flooding on several rivers and various floods across the department. The town of Lanteuil was particularly affected, as were many others in the region. And these floods will not have gone unnoticed by the State.
Natural disasters for “floods and mudslides”
Thus, in the latest publication in the Official Journal, we can read that 5 Corrèze municipalities have been recognized as being in a state of natural disaster. These are Chamboulive, Dampniat, Lagleygeolle, Meyssac and Saint-Julien Maumont. This recognition of the state of natural disaster should allow individuals, businesses and municipalities to be compensated by their insurance companies following the potential damage suffered.
The state of natural disaster was recognized for the period from October 16 to 20, 2024, for “floods and mudslides”. As we can read in the publication, “the abnormal intensity of the phenomenon during the event is characterized with regard to the accumulation of precipitation or the beginning of watercourses, which have a return period greater than 10 years”.
