A relatively brutal accident occurred on Tuesday November 5, around 8 a.m., route de Langres. A car driving towards the town hall hit another coming out of rue Château-du-Mont.
The motorist leaving this rue Château-du-Mont declared not having seen the other vehicle because of the fog. There are no significant human consequences, but some residents complain about cars not adapting their speed even though eight streets lead onto this road, which is the busiest in Chalindrey.
According to a local resident, “this situation is indicative of the rise in road insecurity on this axis which has become essential for the village which today experiences a significant level of traffic. The main culprit is speed, and in both directions. No device worthy of the name restrains the enthusiasm of drivers who, under the pressure of time or through negligence, are in too much of a hurry. Local residents witness it: every day, a serious accident can occur. Are we going to wait for him to react? Let’s take a date.”
The Langres road is a departmental road (RD17) whose operation is the responsibility of the Departmental Council. The municipality has also noted speeding by certain motorists in other straight streets in the town.
