Gambian President Adama Barrow welcomed, on Monday in Banjul, the constant and valuable support of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to Gambia, welcoming the excellent relations between the two brotherly countries.

During an audience granted to the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, Abdellatif Miraoui, on a working visit to Gambia, Mr. Barrow expressed his country’s desire to cooperate closely with Morocco in order to achieve common objectives for a prosperous, united and stable Africa.

In this context, he highlighted the importance of supporting development and education to address current challenges.

Mr. Miraoui, for his part, indicated that his working visit to Gambia confirms the strength of the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, as it demonstrates the common desire to strengthen them in priority areas of development.

In this regard, he recalled the Atlantic Initiative launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, which offers great opportunities for genuine South-South cooperation by bringing together the countries of Atlantic Africa, including Gambia, noting that it constitutes a promising framework for collaboration, particularly between the ministers of Atlantic African countries in charge of higher education, scientific research and innovation.

In this perspective and in accordance with the High Guidelines and the enlightened vision of HM the King, Mr. Miraoui stressed the importance of promoting cooperation within the African Atlantic space in view of its geostrategic scope and the significant challenges that the countries bordering the Atlantic are called upon to take up, to accelerate their growth trajectory and broaden development prospects.

This interview took place in the presence of the chargé d’affaires of the Moroccan embassy in Gambia, Ahmed Belhaj, as well as members of the delegation accompanying the minister.
