Thousands of people took advantage of the sunny weather Monday to celebrate Canada’s 157th birthday on the Dufferin Terrace in Quebec, according to organizers’ estimates. The kick-off was given around 11 a.m. with the ceremonial raising of the Canadian flag.
Accompanied by a fanfare, the Royal 22e The regiment held a parade for the occasion.
It was sunny. On the banks of the river with Château Frontenac, what more could you ask for?

Louise Harvey, producer of the event, is delighted with the participation of many tourists. They want to see this beautiful flag and discover this beautiful country.
Several dignitaries, including representatives of the political class, were present for the ceremonial raising of the flag.
We have a beautiful country, we have a beautiful city and we can be proud of it.
underlines Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Public Services and Supply.
These same dignitaries also participated in the distribution of the Canada Day cake. This is a tradition that has existed for 125 years. In all, 1,400 slices of cake were distributed.

People gather, there are a lot of people. There is the band. It is the fun to have this at the start of summer, it kicks off the season well
says Frédéric Cyr, culinary director for the Fairmont Château Frontenac.
Festivities on the Plains of Abraham
The festivities continue in the afternoon on the Plains of Abraham. Several free family activities will be offered, including inflatable games, face painting stations and an arcade bus with retro games.
In the evening, people can head to the Kiosque Edwin-Bélanger to attend a show by Jeanick Fournier, the big winner of the second season of Canada’s Got Talent.
The party will conclude in the evening with a laser show, which replaces the traditional fireworks.
We swapped the fireworks this year for an immersive laser show. […] We are moving towards something more modern, more carbon neutral, more eco-friendly. We try to disturb our beautiful Plains less
says Louise Harvey.
Celebrations took place across the country. In the federal capital, thousands of people gathered at LeBreton Plains Park.
