All customers of the Compagnie des transports strasbourgeois (CTS) received an email on Thursday November 21 informing them of an abnormal consultation of around a hundred customer accounts. The fraudulent access follows a data leak independent of the CTS, which nevertheless insisted on recalling some security rules.

Around a hundred customer accounts of the Compagnie des transports strasbourgeois (CTS), out of around 350,000 accounts in total have been subject to “abnormal consultation”immediately noted, Thursday November 21.

As soon as we became aware of it, we sent an email to all our customers to notify them. We were very transparent.

“As soon as we became aware of it, we sent an email to all our customers to warn them. We were very transparent,” explains Amandine Carré-Charter, director of strategy support for the company. Those directly affected also received an email informing them of this.

The CTS explains in the general mailing that “usernames and passwords have been stolen from sites that have been victims of data leaks. Some of these identifiers and passwords being common to those used to access CTS customer accounts, fraudulent connections to certain customer accounts were thus made possible making the data contained therein accessible.”

“Nothing scary” however, specifies Amandine Carré-Charter, since no banking details or documents are stored on the servers. But the opportunity to remember the importance of strengthening your passwords and making them unique for each site. Measurements of “caution and prevention to which we have invited all users”, adds the strategy support director.

The CTS also invited its customers to check the compromise of their personal data and to contact the official digital victim assistance service, in the event of suspicion or an abnormal situation.
