the essential
The Pountet Est activity zone, in Mirande, will host a training center dedicated to aesthetics professions from 2025.
The Pountet Est activity zone, at the entrance to Mirande, will welcome a new branch of CMA Formation (formerly CFA/École des métiers) at the start of the 2025 school year. This structure, which is the third establishment of the CMA in the Gers after Pavie and Auch Garros, will be the first in the department to offer training in aesthetics, cosmetics and perfumery. A CAP class and a Professional Brevet class, with 6 places each, will open at the start of the school year in September 2025.
“The economic dynamics of Mirande should thus benefit from this influx”, underlined Patrick Fanton, president of the Cœur d’Astarac en Gascogne Community of Communes (CCCAG), during the symbolic laying of the first stone of the site, at which were also present Guy Sorbadère, president of the Confederation of crafts and small construction companies (Capeb), Thierry Montégut, field representative of the CMA, Philippe Archer, president of the CMA du Gers, and Frédéric Terrasson, territorial director.
This project responds to a growing demand for training in this area where the offer was until now absent in the Gers. Thanks to the principle of apprenticeship, which is based on close collaboration with local businesses, this new branch will contribute to the economic dynamism of Mirande.
Strengthening the local economy
The CMA du Gers, already very active, also awarded the 2024 diplomas last Thursday to 275 young people, including 16 adults undergoing retraining. With this new branch, Mirande confirms its place on the learning map and asserts itself as an attractive hub for training and the local economy.

The Pountet Est area, which is already home to several economic players such as Weldom, the rescue center or Jardiméca32, thus sees its attractiveness reinforced. The community of municipalities, after having sold all available land, is also delighted with the upcoming installation of brands such as “Action” or “Les Jardins de Bohème”, French manufacturer of modular wooden housing. Some are currently waiting to obtain their building permit.
These projects in Mirande confirm the desire of the community of municipalities to make the town a center of excellence and innovation in the Gers.
