The tragedy occurred on Sunday June 30, in Colmar (Haut-Rhin), around 10:40 a.m. Residents called the municipal police after hearing a noise and seeing a 21-year-old woman throwing objects out of her apartment window. Arriving on site, the police discovered “a woman who was delusional”says Éric Straumann, the mayor of the city, on Facebook, as reported by France 3.
The municipal police made a macabre discovery: “His 8-year-old daughter was found dead in her bed. She was in the second grade at a primary school in the city.”
A “terrible scene”
The Mayor of Colmar “praises the work of our municipal police officers and all the emergency services, who were the first to arrive on the scene, and who are very distressed by this terrible scene“, and explains that the “Education service and National Education are mobilized to support the educational community and the victim’s comrades in the face of this horrible tragedy.”
According to information from France Bleu, the 21-year-old mother is not known to the police or justice services and was restrained with a taser. Her eight-year-old daughter reportedly has injuries to her face and chest, and her body must be autopsied to determine the cause of death.
